The next conference of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) will be held in 2021 commemorating “Mujib Borsho” (Mujib’s year), said CVF President Ban Ki-moon.
“CVF President and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called Shakas Hasina around 6:10 pm and informed them,” said PM News Secretary Ihsanul Karim.
The news correspondent said Ban Ki-moon and the Prime Minister in their nearly 12-minute conversation talked about various issues, including the CVF Conference and the Global Center on Adaptation Conference.
Karim said the Global Center on Adaptation Conference will be held in the second week of September next and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will present the conference, with Ban Ki-moon joining it.
He said the former UN Secretary-General thanked the leadership of Prime Minister Shakas Hasina for fighting the coronavirus and the storm ‘Amphan’ with courage.
Ban Ki-moon said the people of Southeast Asia would have to be built up as conquerors in order to cope with conditions such as the Covid-19 epidemic and the hurricane Amphan.
The UN Secretary-General also congratulated Prime Minister Shakasinaina on his appointment as CVF chair for a second term.
He also congratulated Saima Wazed Hossain, Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Neurodevelopmental Diswaysand Autism, as the “Member Ambassador” for CVF.
The prime minister thanked Ban Ki-moon for calling him, the press secretary said.
