Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday congratulated Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on his victory over the SLPP party in the August 5 by-elections.
In a message to Mahinda Rajapaksa, Shakas Hasina said the victory of the Sri Lankan ruling party showed the confidence and confidence of the Sri Lankan people in the current leadership of the country, said Secretary of State Ihsanul Karim.
He said Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had worked in the face of their close relations on various issues of interest such as speeding up international relations, terrorism and war and climate change.
Hasina described the life of the Sri Lankan people in Banglakhon as an example of the excellent unity between Dhaka and Colombo.
In his message, the Prime Minister especially recalled his meeting with Mahinda Rajapaksa during his official visit to Banglikana and the exchange of views between the two countries at various international events to accelerate foreign affairs.
He said Dhaka had been working to strengthen bilateral relations with Mahindra Rajapaksa’s stronghold in government.
Hasina said Bangladesh and Sri Lankan will work together to create peace, harmony and prosperity in South Asia.
The Prime Minister invited his Sri Lankan counterpart, Rajapaksa, to visit Bangistan during his tenure.
